After a very busy month with Hustings for LCR, May has another fantactic line up.

On Wednesday, May 05th, we run our regular WorldWideWednesday Monthly Evening Event. It is always a lively and diverse evening as our variety of Speakers is remarkably interesting. May is no exception.

WWWednesday have two well respected Internationally renowned Journalists and Authors, Tony Connelly and Martyn Bond. We give a welcome return to Stewart Dickson MLA who will give us an update on NI politics.

Tony Connelly is an Irish journalist and author of Brexit and Ireland. He is Europe Editor for RTÉ News and Current Affairs. Tony has written for other agencies and publications, including Time, United Press International and the Irish Independent.

Martyn Bond, author and former BBC corespondent will talk about his latest book, Hitler’s Cosmopolitan Bastard Count Richard Coudenhove-Kalergi and His Vision of Europe.

The model for Viktor Laszlo in ‘Casablanca’ and the man Hitler referred to as a “Cosmopolitan Bastard”, the Count knew every anti-Nazi from Portugal to Poland, and was close friends with Churchill and De Gaulle. In the 1920s he founded an international political movement to rival the Nazis, and in the 1950s a pressure group to speed up European integration. Half Austro-Hungarian, half Japanese, he married three times and his private life was equally dramatic.

Hitler’s impact is well known, the Count’s story is still untold. It resonates in Europe today.

Stewart Dickson is an Alliance Party of Northern Ireland politician and member of the Northern Ireland Assembly, where he represents East Antrim. Stewart is Chief Whip of the Alliance Party Assembly Group and a member of the party’s Executive Committee, he is a member of the Northern Ireland Assembly Committees for Social Development, Justice, and the Assembly Business committee, where he contributes to the formulation of the Assembly’s weekly agenda. In addition to his Committee responsibilities, Stewart is a member of the Assembly All Party Groups on Diabetes (Vice Chair) and International Development.[5] He was elected chair of the Assembly all Party Group on Social Enterprise.
